2008 -2011 Volkswagen Passat Type 3CC

Sometimes you just have to take a step back. You may want a Nissan Skyline 370 GT, but your partner has said, "not on your Nellie are you getting one of those". Damn. You have a family; you need to consider space and practicality, but you're thinking, I want to have some fun too!

A Volkswagen Passat Type 3CC just might be the ticket. If you're scratching your head, what's this guy on about, let's take a look at why the Passat may be just the vehicle you should consider.

First up let's look at the 3CC's styling, it has to be one of the most un-Volkswagen looking Volkswagens out there. Not only does it ooze class, it suggests speed and grace also. It's called a four-door coupe, and for a good reason, that fastback roofline is a treat for the eyes. It will comfortably seat four adults with a fifth pew for occasional use.

It has more luxury appointments than you can shake a stick at, you know like the full leather interior, six stacker CD player, power everything, keyless entry and if you find a V6 belter, six-speed dual clutch transmission. Ooh, nice.

There's also a choice of engines/drivetrains, an economical turbo diesel or a powerful petrol V6. When we say powerful, we're not kidding, the naturally aspirated 3.6 litre V6, DOHC, four valves per cylinder with variable valve timing engine produces a prodigious 220kW @ 6600rpm and a peak torque of 350Nm from as little as 2400rpm. That gives it enough motivation to take care of the 0 to 100km/h in just 5.6 seconds, pretty much line ball with the 370 GT we talked about earlier.

So let's tick the boxes, we have the looks, sure, we have space, it's practical, it's reliable, and we have the performance.

Fun right!
