2011-2013 Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque marked a turning point for Land Rover, though they had their core customer base and the marque was profitable, they didn't have a high volume seller.

The Range Rover Evoque changed all that, and since its release in 2011 has become Land Rover's most successful production model.

Why should you care? Well if you're after an SUV with a difference, something with some real street cred and the cachet of a prestige badge without the huge price premium, the Evoque could be for you.

The Evoque broke cover as the Land Rover LRX Concept in 2007, it caused quite a stir, its bold, sporty lines were quite the departure from traditional Land Rover offerings. It was a huge hit and prompted Land Rover to put it into production as the Evoque in 2011.

New, a 2.0-litre Turbo Petrol Evoque would set you back $70,000 AUD, for under $40,000 AUD you could find yourself a low K example.

For your dosh, you'll get a sophisticated constant 4x4 all-wheel drivetrain, with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. A peppy 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor putting out 177kW@5500rpm and 340Nm of torque from as little as 1750rpm.

It's no slouch either, 0 to 100km/h is taken care of in a respectable 7.6 seconds.

The Range Rover Evoque; a funky SUV to stand out from the crowd, what more could you ask for?
