EVO Magazine: 2016 Performance Car of the year

Premier UK performance car magazine/website EVO, have called their winner for the 2016 performance Car of the year awards (ECOTY). In what was perhaps not so surprising a result for the winner, more interesting was the car that placed second overall.

This year's players for top honours was a diverse and eclectic bunch, covering the whole performance car spectrum, from hot hatch, super saloon, sports coupes and supercars.

EVO magazine is all about the drive, performance cars being their thing and perhaps nobody puts a better handle on the genre we love better than they do. If you're a fan, it's a must that you check out their video covering the event.

For second place, the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S shows perhaps more than anything else how far technology is pushing the car forward. The hot hatch which is within easy reach of your average buyer, putting on a performance/driveability that bested the likes of BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini, simply amazing.

Twelve cars made the final cut, and their finishing order had me raising my eyebrows more than once. When you take a hard look at the twelve, really for most of us it would be our ideal dream garage. I'd be happy to own any of the cars on the list, including the last place getter :).
